What are TIF/TIFF image files?

TIFF (or TIF) stands for Tagged Image File Format. TIF files offer flexibility and image quality. These formats are widely used in photography, publishing, scanning, and archival work.

TIFF images are made up of rectangular grids of pixels in which two axes are called horizontal (or X, or width) and vertical (or Y, or length).
